Alfred Beard

I have extensive experience in the FMCG industry gained during a stellar career, spanning 20 years. During this time, I became aware of my passion for sales, merchandising, brand building and brand reputation. I built my expertise in the areas of understanding of market dynamics, consumer trends & changes and developing solutions and strategies for sales execution.

My strengths are my ability to create brand value, my deep knowledge of brand selling, commercial marketing, merchandising and sales. During my career, I noticed that the African township market was being under-utilised by FMCG companies as a place to build brands. I’ve always had a long standing dream to create a company where I would be able to choose a reliable team of people from various cultures to build brands in the townships and create an environment where not only would the people in the township feel like winners but the brands would be built successfully and would be widely available and visible. The fulfilment of this dream came in 2013 when I established The Brand and Beverage Company.

I believe that what is worth doing is worth doing well. My working style is meticulous, systematic and highly innovative. I am passionate about developing people and am committed to the maintenance of high standards. I take pride in my ability to make tough decisions, which has enabled me to successfully develop unique and revolutionary sales and merchandising solutions.

Mlisela Mfingwana

I am considered an emerging markets sales and marketing expert having gained extensive insight and knowledge about the township market. My expertise has been gathered over an 11 year sales and marketing career within FMCG including, Smollan Sales and Marketing, South African Breweries, Japan Tobacco International and Edward Snell and Company. I began my career as a sales merchandiser and quickly built my sales and marketing career, having started as a Field Sales Manager and then holding roles including Area Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, National Main Market Manager and General Manager. I understand market dynamics, consumer trends as well as how to build brands, merchandising and selling products to this untapped market.

In 2014, I joined The Brand and Beverage Company (TBBC) as Sales Director. My focus is to deliver results for clients including increasing value, volume and market share.

I have been described as a straight forward individual who is results driven and my working style is to empower those working with me through accountability. I motivate others through continuous learning as well as giving others opportunities to voice opinions and get results based on their expertise and experience. My strong ability to analyse information enables me to understand key market insights and initiate innovative logical action plans.
